The Proposal

Looking back, it's hard to believe that our story began with something as simple as a wave.

In 2021, we both attended a wedding, completely unaware that our lives were about to intertwine in the most unexpected way. During the reception, Beatrice was invited to take part in a game. Her infectious laughter, effortless confidence, and joyful spirit instantly caught Toluwani's attention. In fact, he was so captivated by the moment that he quietly recorded a short video of her from across the room, wanting to remember the happiness she radiated... even though they had never spoken.

As the celebrations came to an end, things seemed to offer one more gentle nudge. While Toluwani's sister was saying goodbye to Beatrice's sister, he spotted her once again as she was about to get into a car. Dressed beautifully in pink with an elegant gele (lol), she looked his way. He smiled and waved. She smiled shyly and waved back.

It lasted only a few seconds.

Neither of us realised that we'd just shared the first page of our story.

A few weeks later, Instagram suggested Beatrice's profile to Toluwani. Remembering the lady from the wedding, he decided to follow her and sent a simple message: "Were you the lady I saw at the wedding...?" The conversation quickly turned into laughter when Toluwani shared the video he had secretly recorded that day. Beatrice couldn't believe he'd captured that moment, and it became the perfect conversation starter.

From there, we found ourselves replying to each other's stories, sharing little moments from our lives, and talking more often. The conversations became easier, the laughter came more naturally, and before long, friendship began to grow without either of us forcing it.

Looking back now, we can't help but smile at how many little moments had to align for us to meet. A wedding ceremony. A game. A secretly recorded video. A shy wave across a car park. One Instagram suggestion. One simple message.

At the time, they all felt like ordinary moments. Looking back, they were the beginning of a story more beautiful than we could ever have imagined.

Our story didn't begin as a love story; it began as a friendship, and for quite some time, that's all it was. What started as occasional Instagram conversations soon became daily check-ins, endless phone calls, shared laughter, heartfelt prayers, and the kind of friendship that brought peace, encouragement, and unwavering support. We celebrated each other's milestones, carried one another through challenges, and slowly became each other's favourite person to talk to.

Life soon took us on an unexpected adventure. Toluwani moved to the UK, and not long after, Beatrice relocated as well. Before long, we both found ourselves in the same town, creating new memories while our friendship continued to grow. Years passed, and somewhere between the ordinary moments, the conversations, the kindness, the distance, the reunions, and simply showing up for one another, we realised that what we had built was far more than friendship. Our love grew naturally from a foundation of genuine friendship. That's how Beatrice and Toluwani became Bee & Tee.

By the time June 2026 arrived, we had already shared years of friendship, countless memories, and a love that had grown quietly and beautifully. Little did Beatrice know, Toluwani had been planning one more unforgettable chapter.

On 6th June 2026, every detail had been thoughtfully planned, though only one of us knew what was about to happen. As we walked together, a trail of rose petals and cherished photographs retraced the story we'd been writing since that wedding in 2021, each memory leading us to one unforgettable question: "Babe, will you marry me?" With a bouquet of flowers, a cake that read "My Strawberry Baby," and words spoken straight from the heart, Toluwani got down on one knee and asked the question that would change our lives forever.

As Beatrice said "yes," the quiet, intimate moment gave way to celebration. Our love story gained its most beautiful chapter, and as the sun began to set, we captured the first moments of our forever together. Looking back, we couldn't have imagined a more meaningful beginning to the next chapter of Bee & Tee.
